Lizza May David’s previous work has been autobiographical and investigates issues of identity, labour/migration and memory. Currently, her paintings are mostly abstract, rich in contrast, with broad brush strokes and organic shapes. Often, she juxtaposes media-based approaches with a studio-based painting practice in order to question indexical affinities and to investigate transnational ideological incompatibilities. David studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and University of Arts Berlin, Germany.
